Democratic candidates including Richard made their cases for election to voters in Lillington on Monday at a Town Hall sponsored by the Harnett County Democratic Party. Richard spoke powerfully of the need for the legislature to increase spending for teachers, teaching assistants, school nurses and other support personnel. He was joined by candidates for other offices, including Wiley Nickel for Congress in Dist. 13; Ben Clark for Congress in Dist. 9; Barbara McKoy for Harnett Commissioner in Dist. 1; Reggie Watson for Harnett Sheriff; Kevin Thurman for state House Dist. 53; Sharon McNeill Gainey for Harnett School board Dist. 1; and Kiara Johnson for state House Dist. 6. The Town Hall was a lively mix of prepared remarks and surprise questions.
Richard’s next outing will be at a meet-the-candidates hotdog roast on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at People’s Park, 75 Shetland Lane, Bunnlevel. Bring the kids!
